Over a Decade of New Heights at the ICAA

    By ICAA

    July 28, 2026

New Heights, the ICAA's program for middle school students hosted at schools throughout the country, is now in its eleventh year in partnership with Marymount School of New York. The program invites eighth-grade students to spend a full week exploring the history and development of New York City’s architecture. Through hands-on activities, walking tours, and urban sketching sessions, students examined how the built environment has evolved, and applied those lessons to a final project: designing a pavilion for Central Park. This year’s program placed special emphasis on the idea that the buildings around us are shaped by a series of decisions made by architects, which ultimately reflect the values, principles, and aspirations of our society as a whole.
